Up for auction is this antique early 19th century German Grodnertal
Doll made of hand carved wood arms and legs that are joined to the torso with leather. Please scroll all the way down to the bottom of the listing to see all of the pictures. The head and torso are one piece and made of hand carved wood and hand painted in red and pale white colors. The hair is painted black and she has blue eyes with red lips. The corset is painted red. She measures approximately 13" tall and 2 1/2" wide between shoulders. The dress is sown on. The dress is very old and has discolored over the years. There is an old repair to the left leg and you can see it has been bandaged to reconnect the leg to the torso. The condition is good for its age and it appears to have all its original paint. The paint has been worn off in places. Her nose has broken off a bit as there is only a nub left. Her left hair bun has some wood and paint loss. This dolls' body is all wood NOT papier-mâché . It is not signed.
