Description
Hattie Pinn is approximately a 12 1/4" jointed strung wooden doll that was designed by Emily T. Myers and manufactured in Minnesota by Wood Craft Studios circa 1935-on.Emily T. Myers worked for a time with Otto Schoenhut to produce the Pinn Family Dolls in the final days of the Schoenhut Company's existence.
The Schoenhut Company did not survive the Depression and went out of business circa 1940.
Hattie's simple style wooden shoes have lost their stamp which may have read "© E.T.M. 1936 St. Paul, Minn."
Hattie
is an appealing Pinn Family "Mom" doll dressed in her floral printed apron and her peach linen dress that will require repair. Her left leg has detached at its thigh and needs to be pegged and restrung to the other leg.
Hattie's
facial painting remains fairly bright though its wood sustains a few scuff marks and soil from age and storage. Her auburn yarn hair is styled in a and "up-do" of sorts and may need some restyling. Her outfit is gently soiled and has faded. Her dress is brown stained on its upper backside at its neckline, its neckline hem has frayed, and the front of her bodice suffers a hole. Though she needs cleaning and restoration,
Hattie
is an appealing and early wooden doll that was cleverly designed during the Depression Era with "make-do" materials! She is being sold "as is!"
