Description
Baby is a 14" jointed brown wooden primitive doll that was handcrafted by folk artist Otis W. Lael in 1982. Baby's back is stamped "Otis W. Lael//Sep 11 1982//No. 38." Her face is simply painted with big brown eyes, a pink dotted nose, and a heart shaped mouth. Her tufts of hair are formed from yarn. No nails were used in her construction, only wood. She is dressed in a baby outfit that was sewn by Lillie Kramer. Baby remains in nice condition with minimal wear, though her baby gown may need a light laundering. The late Otis W. Lael lived in Pine River, Minnesota, and carved fish decoys from the 1960s -on. He was awarded the Art Carver of the Year award in 2003. Baby is an appealing folk art creation that is pure Americana!PLEASE study the photos carefully and email with all questions! My photos detail her condition accurately. Though I have tried to provide an honest and detailed description, I may have omitted information that is important to you. I have also provided photos that "speak volumes."
