This listing is for a hand carved, butternut wood Hitty signed, dated 2009, and numbered #9 by Gale Lyons of FL. Hitty Lyonetta will come to you dressed in her original hand knit, tangerine, two piece knit outfit. The outfit consists of a round neck, long sleeve, button front top and matching ankle length, button front, body hugging, slim skirt. Both the top and the skirt button up the front with tiny 1/8" tangerine buttons.
Gale Lyons was both a Hitty artist who carved her own Hittys with distinctive, large, soulful eyes, as well as, a Hitty costumer or couturier of extraordinary talent. The many outfits she created for Hitty were beautiful, stylish, varied and meticulously sewn. Her outfits were highly sought after whenever they came up for sale.
My Hitty Lyonetta's outfit is similarly distinctive and innovative. I have never seen another like it. The original outfit did not come with undergarments of any kind, so it will be up to her new caretaker to provide them for her. I envisioned a one piece, silk, camiknickers combination for her but never found the time to make them.
Hitty Lyonetta is in excellent, like new condition. She was purchased directly from Gale Lyons and has always lived quietly in the Hitty house set aside for display rather than play. Some of my Hittys live rough and tumble lives amid my grandchildren (usually ones I've carved myself) and other Hittys of mine live rather sheltered lives. Hitty Lyonetta's life has been a sheltered one.
