Description

This large wooden doll shoulder head was hand carved by talented Missouri doll artist Robert Neuenswander in 1987.  The back of her shoulder head is incised "Neuenswander #41 '97."  She is certainly impressive in her large size!  Her head measures 7" tall and nearly 3 1/4" from one shoulder edge to the other.  The bottom of her shoulder head measures 2 1/4" in length, while its depth is approximately 2 3/4 inches.  She is a skillfully carved child shoulder head with feathered dark painted brows, soulful amber brown eyes detailed with painted upper and lower black lashes, blush, and a pensive rosy closed mouth.  She wears a long titian human hair wig that awaits a ribbon on its backside.  The shoulder head sustains light spotting from age and storage.  Further information about the doll artist can be referenced in the Dec/Jan 1998 Contemporary Doll Collector magazine.  Unusual and rare!  Robert Neuenschwander was also noted for his precious, hand carved creations of children with articulated wooden bodies.
